Using the IRLP link system

When using the IRLP link system on the TRS repeaters the operator should first ID and say something like “X5XXX Controlling IRLP” then the operator should key in the 4 digit node number he/she is trying to contact. After connecting the node to another node or reflector the station should key his/her microphone for 2 seconds before speaking. The link system works like a local repeater but always remember to key the microphone for 2 seconds before speaking. When the operator is done using the IRLP he/she should use dtmf ‘73’ to disconnect from the node or reflector. If you do not hear the goodbye message from the node or reflector you are still connected and should try it again. After disconnecting from the node/reflector the operator should again ID and say something like “X5XXX clear of IRLP” This lets other operators of the system know you are turning the repeater back to local operations.

Using the EchoLink system

When using the EchoLink system on the TRS repeaters the operator should first ID and say something like “X5XXX Controlling EchoLink” then the operator should key in the ‘A’ key and node number he/she is trying to contact.
